Conservative Hostility to Public Sector Workers

The Conservative hostility towards workers in the public sector came to the surface the other day according to Warley MP John Spellar.

According to John Spellar the Prime Minister led the way by saying:-

“The hon. Lady is entirely right.  This Government are squarely on the side of people who work hard, play by the rules, and want to do the right things for their families.  Today I would say to all those people – thank you for what you do to contribute to public sector pensions that are far more generous than anything that you are able to afford.”

Later Worcestershire MP, Harriett Baldwin, accused part-time public sector workers of not living in the ‘real world’.

John Spellar MP said:-

“It is appalling the way in which the Tories, led by the Prime Minister, were trying to divide the country.  However, the public will see through it.  Public sector workers are husbands, wives, parents, children of those in the private sector.  They want a Government which will try to resolve these issues not one that is relishing picking a fight with their family members.”
